Just the name of this game wants to make you play it! Sshh! Don't Wake Dad! is another great family game by Drumond Park. We really love playing their games.
This game is full of laughs, excitement and jumps and there is no difficulty in it, so any age group could win/lose.
The aim of the game is to make your token move across the board and get to the chocolate cake, in the kitchen, without waking dad up. Sound easy? Well it's not as easy as you think.....but it is lots of fun.
The box contains a playing board, 4 playing pieces, rules, a spinner, 16 cards and a dad in his bed with his important alarm clock! (you will need 2 x AA batteries)
Each player is given a set of randomly selected cards which mirror the same images on the board game. If a player lands on an image which they don't have in their selection, they need to press the alarm clock the same amount of times as it says on that image. The alarm clock is the trigger for Dad to wake up. So you have to be careful. If nothing happens after pressing the alarm clock, you are safe. If Dad jumps up, you have to go back to the beginning.
When Dad initially jumps up, you do get a little shock and your subsequent presses are a little more tentative....which makes it even more fun to play! It is quite fun to watch the reactions of players whilst they are pressing the alarm clock and when Dad wakes up too!
Sshh! Don't Wake Dad! is a simple, fun game, which can be enjoyed by the whole family. My son is 4 years old and fully understands the game, explains the rules to new players and doesn't get frightened by the jumping Dad.
The game is well made and the Dad mechanism is very sturdy and will take lots of knocks and bumps. Especially as the excited children rush to place the 'awake' dad back into his sleeping and snoring position! The game isn't too competitive so there won't be any tears, and it's fun enough to play again and again and again (which we do!).
We find the game so much fun, that we don't just play it with the children! We've adapted it to play with adults and whoever wins doesn't have to make the tea! So you can imagine it's a big battle!
This game is recommended for ages 5+, 2 - 4 players and is available at all good toy stockists, RRP £22.99. This price is well worth it, as it's a game for the whole family, is oodles of fun and is built to last.
