Hands up who loves to receive a cake on their special day?
So, in the famous words of Marie-Antoinette, "Let them eat cake"!
Now, I'm pretty sure that most of you said yes, to both those questions! A birthday cake on a special day is just as important as a present or card, for your loved one, family or friends.

I was so thrilled when BakerDays asked me to try out their personalised 5" Letterbox cake.
The first hurdle was when I went onto their website - there are so categories to choose from (Birthdays, Christenings, humour cakes, driving test cakes), it was practically endless!
When I had finally chosen a design, I could personalise the cake with my own message and then choose what kind of cake I wanted (plain or chocolate). Once that was all done, I then waited for the Postman to deliver my cake through the letterbox!
Yes, I did say Letterbox. You might be thinking, how on earth will the cake survive the brutal delivery service where a letter can sometimes arrive in shreds! Well, it's all done to the ingenious packaging and size of the Letterbox cake.
The Letterbox is 5", which means it is a perfect size to fit through a standard letterbox. On top of that the cake is contained within an attractive tin, protecting it from Royal Mail and the drop from the letterbox to the floor. The tin is then wrapped in a protective cardbox box. There's no squished edges for any of these Letterbox cakes!
The tin is a good quality tin, so you know it won't only protect your cake from any bumps but it will also keep your cake fresh. Their are air holes in the tin to keep the cake moist.
This is the cake in the protective tin and the protect wrapper. There are instructions on the label which let you know how to take the cake out of the tin and wrapper without damaging the cake.
These pictures shows the cake out of the wrapper and the design of the cake. I had decided on choosing a simple design (i.e not birthday related / special occasion related), and added my personalisation of "The purrrfect cake" to show that you can adapt any picture to any text!
The cake is quite small and the Letterbox cakes say it is around 3-4 portions, but this depends on how large a slice you want! I cut quite a few small slices so we could all taste it. The overall reaction to the cake was that it was a great idea and really tasty.
I personally think it is a lovely idea. I would love to receive one of these personalised cakes. To me, it means that, although someone can't see me on my special day, they are still thinking of me and have gone out of their way to do something special for me on my special day. It is an easy thing for the sender to do, but means so much more to the recipient.
The Letterbox cake is the baby of the BakerDays family. Being just 5” in diameter, it fits perfectly through the Letterbox allowing you to surprise anyone with the most delicious personalised gift.”
The 5" Letterbox cake costs £14.99, but there are other sizes available too, which may suit your needs more. They also cater for people who have certain dietary restrictions (e.g gluten wheat free cakes and dairy free cakes)
